About

Hi, I'm Denise Ela Maley.

I am a dual qualified Executive Coach and Psychotherapist offering online Executive Coaching or Psychotherapy.

My purpose is to support you to identify and achieve your goals with the right balance of support and challenge as a coach and to provide a confidential held space for inner work for psychotherapy clients. I prefer to keep there offerings separate although naturally in each field of work there can be some overlap in approach.

I abide by the professional ethical frameworks of the EMCC for my coaching practice and the BACP for my psychotherapy and counselling practice.

Life experiences

I'm no different from all my clients I see and have found myself living through both wonderful and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am and what I bring to my work.

I have negotiated through both dissatisfying jobs and high-performance demanding remits. I have experience of perfectionism and work-related stress, as well as relationship struggles. I know what it means to experience despair and to feel lost and hopeless. I have lived experience of existential dilemma and questions around becoming a biological parent or to live a life childfree by choice.

I continue to foster a deep interest in the life of organisations and the role of work in people's lives because I have observed the part they have played in my own. I worked as an HR professional for 20 years in start up and high growth international SME organisations across tech, media, professional services and comms sectors.

Organisations, career trajectories and workplace dynamics fascinate me and I continue to stay abreast of trends and my own research from a Jungian lens which led me to commit to adding a formal coaching training to my skillset and offering.

Supporting people is a great privilege to me and deeply fulfilling. Being a coach and a therapist is my vocation in life, or so I have discovered. I love helping people to discover or rediscover their potential with renewed self-awareness and skills and watching their lives flourish.

Professional background

I negotiated my own career transition by continuing to work in HR while re-training in psychotherapy. I received my Masters in Psychotherapy and Healing Practice validated by Middlesex University in 2016.

A few years later I committed to an additional specialist training in couple psychotherapy and in 2019 I received my Postgraduate Diploma in Transpersonal Couples Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE) in London, UK. I am also trained in the Rewind Trauma Technique and I also attended Master Practitioner Training in Eating Disorders and Obesity with the National Centre for Eating Disorders.

I am currently undertaking an Executive Coaching training accredited to Senior Practitioner level by EMCC UK and EMCC Global which takes account of my psychotherapeutic skills, knowledge and experience and I expect to complete this by the end of 2025.

My professional clinical experience includes workplace counselling, university student counselling, women’s issues counselling and play therapy.

I currently split my time between my private practice and working as a counsellor at Oxford University. I also have recent experience in a leading London based UK clinic multidisciplinary team as a senior associate psychotherapist working with eating disorders, persons of larger size and basic nutritional coaching.

I hold fully accredited membership of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by their code of Ethics.

In addition, I sat on the BACP Workplace Divisional Executive Board and a prior 20 year professional career in international corporate HR positions and remain an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development UK (CIPD).
